After over 12 years in the Glass business, I found myself bored with installing the same products over and over. I knew if I was going to stay in this business, something had to change and The Glass Shoppe A Division of Builders Glass of Bonita, Inc. was born. As this baby of mine quickly grew, The Glass Shoppe A Division of Builders Glass of Bonita, Inc. has become so much more than I ever imagined or dreamed. Opening in just March of last year it has quickly become the first and only Glass and Mirror Retail Showroom of it’s kind. The Glass Shoppe A Division of Builders Glass of Bonita, Inc. has transformed into a ‘Glass Design Center.’ I am proud to say we are the first and only in the area. The timing was perfect. It is clear that glass and mirrors are becoming the centerpiece in interior design projects. Clients can now visit our Glass Design Center where they can touch, feel, and be inspired by the endless possibilities for using glass and mirror in their homes. One of my favorite new offerings is the option to frame your vanity mirror! I can’t wait to tell you more about our mirror frame options.

As the showroom progressed, the creative juices literally poured out. There were many design dilemmas. I was turning an industrial warehouse space into a retail storefront. What to do with that concrete block wall? Cover it in back painted glass! What about the formica counter? A thick glass countertop in satin etched  glass was the answer.

I wanted to offer all the things the competition didn’t. I wanted to offer all things creative and custom in glass.

One of the products I am most excited about is our line of custom framing that can be added to vanity mirrors. I saw the need for an option to frame a vanity mirror and didn’t stop until I found the perfect solution. The obvious choice was to offer custom framing.

There were a few problems with this option

  • Very High price point
  • I would need to hire a custom framer to cut, miter and build the frames
  • The frames couldn’t be applied to an existing mirror, they needed to have a flat back

In May of last year I found the solution.  We became a wholesaler for Mirrormate frames. When the 70 corner samples came I knew we had a winner. We quickly ordered 4 frames to display in the showroom and I quickly ripped that box open and started putting a frame together. I couldn’t believe how smoothly it went. I was done in 10 minutes!  I would definitely not need to hire a custom framer to build these frames.  The flat back of the frame laid nicely over a mirror, or directly on the wall. Are you wondering why the frame would be applied to the wall when they are specifically made to go on top of the existing mirror? I will explain!

We found this before and after picture on one of our favorite blogs My overlays. Adding a frame to the existing mirror is quite a transformation! Now when I see a home with flat mirrors on the wall, they scream at me for a frame.  Those naked mirrors are begging to be dressed up in a frame.
